Meet our team
Debbie Herbeck | Co-Founder and Executive Director
What do you do for BLR? It's all hands on deck for us here! I help shape and steer the vision of Be Love. I implement that vision by planning our events, speaking at retreats, ministering to moms, training our leaders, mentoring and discipling girls, leading small groups, bible studies, and mission trips, directing Pine Hills Girls' Camp, and trying to personally love each young woman I meet.
What inspires you? I am inspired by Love—not the concept, the theory or ideal— but the lived-out expression of love in everyday life, however messy or imperfect that may be. I am very inspired when I witness others encounter God’s love in a personal and transformative way, and when I see young women catch a vision for who they truly are and begin to walk in that freedom. I'm inspired by my husband Peter and my own children, and all the ways they are saying yes to Love in their own lives.
What do you do when you’re not working with BLR? I love being with my five little grandchildren, cooking in my awesome kitchen, working barefoot in my garden, playing tennis, reading, writing, going on mission trips, and planning Pine Hills Girls' Camp.
Who are some of your favorite Love Revolutionaries? St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Joan of Arc, and St. Terese of Lisieux.
Elizabeth Muise | Creative Director
What do you do for BLR? The joy of my job is that I’m constantly learning new skills because I get to do a little bit of everything. However, my main role is to basically make BLR beautiful by creating the graphics, running social media, maintaining the website, and designing print pieces and merchandise. I’m also involved in the planning and running of events, speaking at retreats, mentoring young women, and most importantly, loving each person that is placed in my path on the journey to heaven!
What inspires you? BEAUTY. Passionate artists who create, a thought provoking conversation, an engaging book, a well written article, soul-moving music, carefree dancing, hearty laughter, fellow humans who are living authentically, nature in all its glory, and the lives of the saints.
What do you do when you’re not working for BLR? When I’m not working on BLR, you’ll find me curled up in a corner with a cup o’ Joe and a good book, sitting at my easel drawing, walking barefoot outside, playing with my godson, having an epic dance party with my family or friends, shopping to increase my book collection (fun fact: I hate clothes shopping), laughing at stupid memes or videos, or engaging in a heart-to-heart.
Who are some of your favorite Love Revolutionaries? Our Blessed Mother, my strong mom, St. Catherine of Siena, Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, and Dorothy Day.
Natalia Collins | Mission Coordinator
What do you do for BLR? My main role in BLR is expanding the “Be Love” aspect of our ministry. I am working to increase our mission trips to Mexico City and Haiti, and other local service opportunities for young women. I also individually mentor and disciple girls, and help with organizing and running of retreats, events, and small groups. I am also a long-time member of the leadership team at Pine Hills Girls Camp.
What inspires you? Laughter! I love seeing joy radiate in people and then watching it become contagious to everyone around them. There is a freedom in laughter and it allows people to experience a glimpse of the beauty of who God created them to be.
What do you do when you’re not working with BLR? Quality time is my love language so you most likely will find me spending time with my friends and family. I also enjoy playing sports, going on mission trips, visiting new places, exercising, reading (when I make time for it), attending fun events around town, and praying!
Who are some of your favorite Love Revolutionaries? I agree with all of the women my lovely co-workers chose! Another woman who inspires me with her ability to spread the love of Jesus to every person she encounters is Katie Davis. If you don’t know who she is, look her up!
Molly Marrow | Worship Leader
What do you do for BLR? My primary role in BLR is to lead the young women into worshiping our Creator. Along with this I mentor girls in aspects of faith and music. This includes being on the creative side of planning retreats/events, speaking, and helping in any other area I am needed to further the ministry. Most importantly, I try to personally love each young woman in Be Love Revolution.
What inspires you? I am inspired by people who are on fire for God, those whose hearts long to serve and know Him intimately. Their desire to bring souls into God’s kingdom reminds me of why we are all on this earth. I am also inspired by music. I believe that music is God’s gift to us that transcends our hearts and our prayers. Music gives us a beautiful glimpse into the heavens.
What do you do when you’re not working for BLR? When I'm not working, you can find me writing a song or enjoying the company of other people. I love spending quality time with my family and friends (especially my nieces and nephews), watching/going to the movies (usually sneaking in ice cream and candy), reading a book in a comfy chair, listening and getting obsessed with new music, traveling, laughing, and being inspired by talks/podcasts on YouTube (usually by Fr. Mike Schmitz).
Who are some of your favorite Love Revolutionaries? St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Padre Pio, and St. Pope John Paul II.
Melisa Carroll | Blog and Development
What do you do for BLR? I manage the BLR blog (as well as write a few posts myself). I also help with development, administrative tasks, personally mentoring girls, planning events, giving talks, helping with retreats, organizing small groups, prayer ministry, and whatever else will help BLR be successful and share the love of Christ! I very strongly believe that the best way to bring anyone to Christ is to love them, right where they're at and without holding back, so I try (even though I often fail) to “be love” to everyone I meet.
What inspires you? Music! "Music is well said to be the speech of angels. In fact, nothing among the utterances of man is felt to be so divine. It brings us closer to the infinite." -Thomas Carlyle
Nature! "In His hands are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land." -Psalm 95: 4-5
Art/Beauty! "Art and the Saints are the greatest apologetics for our faith." -Pope Benedict XVI
People! "There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship." -St. Thomas Aquinas
What do you do when you're not working for BLR? I teach middle school Language Arts, devour books (especially fiction), dance ballet, hang out with my husband, take walks, cuddle my cat, eat (dairy-free) ice-cream, belt out my favorite music while driving, take pictures of nature (especially flowers), talk nonstop with my friends, and strive to become better friends with Jesus every day.
Who are some of your favorite Love Revolutionaries? St. Therese of Lisieux. "Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do with love."
